How many pavers do I need?
Convert the patio area to square inches and divide by the paver area. For a 10 × 10 ft patio (14,400 sq in) with 6×6 pavers (36 sq in): 14,400 ÷ 36 = 400 pavers, plus 10% waste = 440 pavers.
Paver base materials
Don't forget the base layer — pavers need about 4-6 inches of gravel plus 1 inch of sand. For a 100 sq ft patio: roughly 1.5-2 cubic yards of gravel and 1 ton of paver sand.

- Order 10% extra for cuts at edges and future repairs
- Use 6×6 or larger for paths; 4×8 works well for herringbone patterns
- Compact the gravel base before laying sand — it prevents sinking
