Find out exactly how many bricks and mortar bags your wall needs.
How many bricks do I need?
A standard modular brick with mortar occupies about 0.0109 sq ft per brick (about 6.9 bricks per sq ft... actually ≈ 6.9 per sq ft of wall). For a 20 × 6 ft wall = 120 sq ft: 120 ÷ 0.0109 ≈ 1,100 bricks, plus 10% waste = 1,210.
Mortar estimate
One bag of mortar mix (60-80 lb) lays about 25-30 bricks. For 1,200 bricks, plan on roughly 45 bags.
Pro tips
- Order bricks from one batch — color varies between kilns
- Add 10% for cuts at corners and openings
- Keep extra bricks for matching repairs later
